Most testing teams are busy, running cases, logging defects, hitting release deadlines, without anyone being able to say with evidence whether the process behind that activity is actually improving quality or just keeping pace with it. Test planning happens the same ad hoc way every release. Defects that should have been caught earlier keep slipping through in the same categories. Test organization and career path review, including how testing skills and roles are structured and developed

Metrics and measurement program review, so testing decisions are based on defect and quality data, not instinct
Test environment and tooling review, assessed against what the process actually requires rather than what’s fashionable
A formal readiness (pre-)assessment ahead of the accredited appraisal, run against the TMMi Assessment Method (TAMAR)
Liaison with an accredited TMMi Lead Assessor through the official certification appraisal
